Social media is, as the name suggests, supposed to be social. As in you talk and have a discussion with others about anything. This naturally introduces a bunch of problems that are the reason why I stay away from online discussions.
The comments that I already see either: affirm my opinion about said comment or completely go against it. I rarely feel like I need to add to the conversation. And correcting someone's bad opinion rarely leads to peaceful discussions, so I just let someone else take that burden. Everything has already been said and I don't want to parrot someone else's opinion and needlessly fill up server space.
Likes are a different story. I could be infatuated by a post or comment to such a degree that I can't help but like it, but I generally use likes as an algorithm fixer when too many irrelevant posts show up.
